CLOSECOUPLEDCATALYTICCONVERTER(ccc):
The close coupled catalytic converter on safari is
fitted with diesel oxidation catalytic converter to
reduce exhaust pollution(CO, Nox, unburnt
hydrocarbon and particulate matter). This is fitted /
closely coupled to the exhaust manifold (Fig. 1). Due
to high exhaust temperature, it burns the soot and
avoids catalytic converter chocking. The ccc will
quickly heats up after starting to ensure that it
operate correctly during the warm up phase of th
engine.
Removal
l
Remove the heat shield (A)
l
Disconnect the front exhaust pipe assly.
l
Remove the mounting screws of ccc to
turbocharger (B)
l
Take out the ccc
Caution
l
Do not drop the ccc
l
Do not hit it against something
Fitment
l
Assemble the ccc to turbocharger and tighten the
mounting screws to the specified torque.
l
Fit the front exhaust pipe at other end of ccc.
l
Fit back the heat shield.
l
After installation start the engine & check for
leakages.
CAREANDMAINTENANCE
In the event of following symptoms, drive the car at slow
speedwithout rapid acceleration:
l
Engine misfires or runs irregularly, following a cold
start.
l
A significant loss of power is noticed.
l
In case “CheckEngine” lamp remainsONeven after
engine has been started.
l
If the vehicle is continuously run with misfiring, it
may cause overheating of shell, carpet etc.
resulting into fire.
