FITMENT OF TIMING BELT :

Install cam shaft timing gear on exhaust cam shaft.

Ensure that timing plate is in position. Fig. 163

Install timing belt over crank shaft gear. Keep it

stretched and slip it over idler roller, cam shaft gear

tensioner roller and water pump gear.

Tighten the timing belt by pressing the tensioner

roller against the belt with the help of Allen key and

tighten the mounting bolts of tensioner and check

the tension. Tension to be checked between

tensioner roller & cam shaft pulley. Fig. 164

Remove timing pin and timing plate.

Rotate crank shaft by full two turns in the direction

of the engine rotation.

Try fitting timing plate and timing pin in its position.

If it is not possible to fit any one, repeat timing belt

installation procedure from beginning.

Ensure that timing plate and timing pin are removed

after timing belt fitment.
