FUEL FILTER (Fig. 181)
The filter is located in the engine compartment. It filters
the fuel sucked from the fuel tank. This is essential
for ensuring injecting operation because nozzle is
extremely sensitive to foreign particles in the supply
circuit.
Removal
1.
Unscrewdrain plug and drain fuel from fuel bowls.
2.
Remove fuel filter with top cover from mounting
bracket.
3.
Unscrew fuel filter bowl mounting bolt & remove
bowl with element.
4.
To remove filter from vehicle, loosen banjo bolt
& disconnect suction line from filter.
Inspection
1.
Check fuel tank filter element for clogging or
damage. Replace if necessary.
2.
Check FIP side filter element for clogging,
damage. Replace if necessary.
3.
Replace fuel tank side filter element at
recommended intervals.
4.
Replace FIP side filter element at recommended
interval.
Assembly
1.
Assemble new filter element if necessary.
2.
Assemble fuel filter and fit it on mounting bracket.
3.
Connect suction line to fuel filter inlet and tighten
banjo bolt to specified torque.
4.
Always use new sealing washers.
5.
Prime fuel system as mentioned above.
