Loosen main bearing cap mounting bolt, using a

feeler gauge measure pre-tension of main bearing

shell. (As the main bearing caps are guided, the

measurement has to be done on a flat surface and

not on cylinder block. (Fig.114)

MAIN BEARING SHELLS ARE PRECISION

FINISHEDAND SHOULD NOT BE BORED OR

SCRAPPED.

l

Select new pair of thrust washer according to

crank shaft 4th main journal width.

Prentension Gap : 0.06 to 0.09mm

Clean cylinder bores thoroughly

l

Check cylinder bore dimension, taper and ovality.

(Fig 115)

l

If taper and ovality is found to exceed specified

limit or bore is excessively worn out then replace

liners.

l

Record the readings in Engine inspection sheet

no. 2 given in this manual.
