ANTI-LOCK BRAKES

Precise alignment and gap (1 mm) between the stator

pole and the Toner wheel is vital.

The front toner rings are press fitted on the wheel hub.

The rear toner rings are press fitted on drive shaft. To

obtain correct signal, the specified gap between the

end of sensor & the toner ring must be between 0.35

to 1.65 mm for front wheels & 0.275 to 1.275 mm for

the rear wheels. (with 0.1 mm max. variation).

The distance cannot be adjusted, so if the gap

measured is outside the tolerance limits, check the

condition of both wheel speed sensors & toner rings.

Acceleration Sensor

Safari uses an acceleration sensor as an additional

reference for vehicle deceleration in order to take care

of wrong reference speed generation by the wheel

speed sensors, which will register the same speeds

when connected to each other in the 4x4, engaged

condition & if all the four wheels locked.
