SUPPLEMENTARY RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS)

ON VEHICLE REPAIR

REMOVAL

!! WARNING

The system has back-up power for about 30 seconds

after the battery is disconnected. Wait for at least

ONE minute after disconnecting the battery before

servicing the vehicle to prevent accidental deploy-

ment and personal injury.

1. Disconnect the battery connections.

2. Remove the Driver Air bag (DAB.)

dure refer DAB removal in this section).

3. Remove the steering wheel

(For procedure refer

steering wheel removal procedure in Steering

system).

4. Remove the lower nacelle and the upper nacelle

assembly.

(For procedure refer body section)

5. Remove four mounting screws of clock spring

and take out the clock spring.

FITMENT

! CAUTION

Care should be taken that before fitment of clock

spring, make sure that the steering wheel and the

vehicle is in straight ahead position.

For fitment follow the reverse procedure of removal.

NOTE

After fitment of clock spring on Combi switch align

the clock spring as follows:

CLOCK SPRING ALIGNMENT PROCEDURE

! CAUTION

If this alignment is not done the clock spring may get

severely damage.

Make sure the steering wheel & the vehicle is

in straight position

.

Rotate the clock spring rotor in clockwise direc-

tion till it reaches the maximum limit of rotation.

Turn the clock spring in anticlockwise direction for

3 rotations from this extreme position. This will be

the straight ahead position of the clock spring.
