SYSTEM MAINTENANCE

Engine Oil Replacement

Inspection:

Before draining engine oil, check engine for any oil

leakage. If any leakage is found make a note of it and

repair or replace the defective part before refilling the

engine oil.

Engine Oil Drain Procedure

Position the car on a two post lift.

Open the Engine Oil filling Cap.

Position a suitable container for collecting the

drained Engine oil below the oil sump drain plug.

Loosen and remove oil sump drain plug with the

help of socket spanner.

Drain Engine oil in the container placed below the

drain plug.

After draining the oil completely, wipe the drain plug

and reinstall the drain plug.

CAUTION

Contaminated and used engine oil can be

hazardous.

This activity should be performedwith ENGINENOT

RUNNING.

Use recommended Grade of Oil only.

Replace the engine oil at recommended interval

specified in service schedule to ensure long life of

engine.

NOTE

When replacing the Engine Oil, allow the oil to drain

completely and then refill it with new oil through oil

filling cap after ensuring that drain plug is

reinstalled.

Ensure that proper quantity of oil is refilled

according to Oil Dipstick marking.

Dispose the used oil in environment friendlymanner.

Follow all governing regulations for proper disposal

of these materials.

Engine Oil Level Checking

Engine oil level should be checked when engine is

cold. Allow at least 30 mins. for engine oil to settle

before checking oil level.

1. For checking engine oil level, pull out the dipstick

from the engine oil case, wipe it clean with a cloth

or a paper napkin.

2. Insert it again to its original position.

3. Pull out the dipstick again and observe the oil level

on the dipstick.

4. If the oil level is below the mid point of min. and

max. marks, top up using recommended grade of

oil.

NOTICE

Oil level should not exceed the max. Mark. Always

check the oil level when the car is on a level ground

and the engine in cold condition.

Check the engine oil level if “low oil pressure” warning

comes 'ON' while driving. Failure to check the oil level

regularly could lead toserious troubledue to insufficient

oil.

Engine oil top-up

Remove the oil filler cap and pour oil slowly through

the filler hole to bring the oil level to the upper limit on

the dipstick. Be careful not to overfill. Too much oil is

almost as bad as too little oil. After refilling, start the

engine and allow it to idle for about a minute. Stop the

engine; let the oil settle and check oil level again.
