HVAC SYSTEM-AC COMPRESSOR
152
INTRODUCTION:
Air conditioning is the regulation of air flow,
temperature and humidity in the car for providing
comfortable environment to the occupants.
The comfort of the environment in the car will be
defined in terms of temperature, humidity and air
flow. But this degree of comfort will vary with the
outside conditions such as temperature, relative
humidity etc.
For maintaining a comfortable environment
(climate) in the car cabin, two separate
temperature regulated circuits and the
corresponding controlling elements are required
i.e. refrigeration and heating circuits.
This system provides full heating, ventilation and
cooling of the car interior. The controls on the
dash boards can be adjusted to mix heating and
cooling to get the desired effect inside the car.
This manual provides information on operation,
maintenance and trouble shooting of HVAC / A/C
system.
Compressor is the heart of A/C system specially
designed to compress the refrigerant. The
compressor draws vaporized refrigerant from the
evaporator. It compresses the refrigerant
(resulting into temperature rise of refrigerant) and
the refrigerant will be passed onto condenser for
condensation.
Compressor relay operate the compressor
magnetic clutch. The magnetic clutch continues to
operate as long as air conditioner is under
operation. Once the air conditioner is put in ‘OFF’
condition, the compressor relay gets cut off and
the magnetic clutch gets disengaged from the
compressor. The cut - in and cut - off of relay is
governed by ECU.
