Functionally, the working of front brake and rear

brake system is same but in case of rear brake

system, parking brake is added. In this, hand brake

lever is levered on trailing shoe with a pin. When

parking brake is applied, the length of the strut

assembly increases which results into application

of brake on rear wheel, mechanically. When the

parking brake is released the protector cum spring

pushes back the hand brake lever and shoe return

spring retracts back the shoes to its original

position.
