BRAKE SYSTEM

Inspection

1. Renew brake drum if scored, grooved or cracked.

A cracked drum is unsafe for further service and

must be replaced. Do not attempt to weld a cracked

drum.

2. Check the brake drum for cleanliness. Thoroughly

clean the back-plate and brake drum.

3. Check braking surface for its wear by measuring

the inside diameter as shown in figure

3. Remove brake drum using brake drum puller.

FRONT BRAKE DRUM

Removal

1. Remove wheel (Refer wheel removal procedure/

Wheels and tires group)

2. Remove hub cap (a) and unscrew the stub axle

nut (b).
