BRAKE SYSTEM

BRAKES
The front drum brake has two brake shoes, a piston,
an auto adjuster mechanism, an emergency brake
mechanism and springs.
When the brake pedal is depressed, the piston pushes
the brake shoes against the drum.
The drum brakes are self-energizing. As the brake
shoes contact the drum, there is a kind of wedging
action, which has the effect of pressing the shoes
into the drum with more force in leading direction.
The shoes get pulled back from the drum when the
brakes are released. The return springs between the
leading and trailing shoe helps to hold the brake shoes
in place and causes them to return to their original
position.
