2. REPAIR DATA

Valve guide length

38 mm

NOTE

: Other dimensions for valve guide are same as

existing manual.

Valve seat insert OD

Normal

Normal 1

Intake

34.11 x 6

34.41 x 6

Exhaust

31.51 x 6

31.81 x 6

Valve clearance ( Tappet Setting )

Intake

0.2

Exhaust

0.35

NOTE

If the Intake valve clearance found below 0.1±0.025 mm, then adjust the valve clearance to 0.2±0.025 mm

by replacing respective shims.

If the Exhaust valve clearance found below 0.2±0.025 mm, then adjust the valve clearance to 0.35±0.025

mm by replacing respective shims.

Selection of shim

Step 1:

Put master shim of thickness 3 mm on all a valves retainers. Put tappet and cam shaft over it.

Step 2:

Rotate the cam shaft and bring it to TDC position. Then measure the clearance between tappet and cam shaft

lobe for inlet valve with the help of feeler gauge. Note down the clearances.

Step 3:

Remove the TDC plate and again rotate the camshaft and bring it to TDC position. Measure the clearance

between tappet and cam shaft lobe for exhaust valve with the help of feeler gauge. Note down the clearances.

Calculations of shim:

Use the following formulae for selection of shim.

For inlet valve

: S = M + (C – 0.2)

For exhaust valve:

S = M + (C – 0.35)

S = Required shim thickness

M = Thickness of master shim i.e. 3 mm

C= valve clearance measured with the feeler gauge when master shim is placed on valve retainer.

Step 4:

Remove the master shim from retainer. Select proper shim as per calculation from shim box.

A. BELT TENSION VALUES

Alternator belt

: New belt to be re-tensioned to

155±5 Hz

on vehicle after running for 15 min.

For used belt it should be

120 ~ 130 Hz.

AC compressor belt

: New belt to be re-tensioned to

180±5 Hz

on vehicle after running for 15 min.

For used belt it should be

145 ~ 155 Hz.

Timing belt

: Belt tension values should be

70±5 Hz

measured between the span of crank gear and timing gear .
