1.2 SAFETY AGAINST PERSONAL INJURY
A
.
WORKING WITH VEHICLES FITTED WITH
AIRBAG
While working with Vehicles equipped with airbag
special care should be taken to avoid accidental de-
ployment, which may cause personal injury and also
to avoid damage to the airbag which may result in its
failure to deploy during a crash.
Disconnect the battery negative and wait for a min-
ute before proceeding with any repairs related to
airbag.
!! WARNING
Since the airbag system has power back up for
about 30 secs, it is essential to wait for at least a
minute after disconnecting the battery to proceed
with any repair in order to avoid air bag deployment
.
1. Replace the Airbag modules if dropped from a
height, even if no external damage is visible.
2. Only use the diagnostic tool to probe faults in the
Airbag system, never use electrical probing in-
struments as the probing current may deploy the
airbag.
3. Check if the airbag lamp comes ON to show any
fault after conducting a repair and recheck for any
errors using the diagnostic tool.
4. Do not try to dismantle the airbag module; there
are no serviceable parts in it.
