3. INTERCOOLER The intercooler is a heat exchanger used to cool the compressed hot air coming from the turbocharger before it enters the intake manifold. It increases the density of the air and avoids the chance of preignition due to high intake air temperature. The intercooler is mounted in front of the radiator. 4. AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR Air temperature sensor is mounted on the air intake Manifold. It measures temperature and pressure of fresh air. On the basis of which EMS ECU estimates the air flow and compares with actual air flow measured from Air mass flow sensor (AMF). 5. AIR MASS FLOW SENSOR This sensor is mounted between air filter and turbocharger. It gives Information about the quantity of air & temperature entering the engine. This input is used by the ECU for corrections of fuel quantity based on amount of air availability for optimization of exhaust gas circulation & the turbocharger control. While assembling, the AMF sensor the point of the arrow should be towards the Turbo charger. 6. ELECTRONIC THROTTLE VALVE A DC motor drive is used to move the throttle valve over the complete movement range. The DC motor is directly controlled by the ECU of the Petrol engine. Throttle Valve H-bridge driver of EMS ECU provides bidirectional control with active recirculation and over current detection. Diesel Engine Ph-2 (CAFÉ) 80
