STEERING WHEEL ALIGNMENT/ CENTRALISING Park the unladen vehicle with tyres in straight 1. ahead position on a level ground. With the tyres in straight ahead position the 2. steering wheel may not be aligned, to align it do the following: With the vehicle parked for wheel alignment, • lock the front wheels on the locking plate. Ensure rack is centralized before steering • wheel alignment. It will ensure equal steering wheel angle on LH & RH side from straight ahead position. Remove the steering wheel from the column; • refer steering wheel removal (Part No. 8855 TOOL 0001). Image for Illustration only Align it such that the ‘T’ – emblem and spokes • are aligned properly and refit the steering wheel. STEERING WHEEL PLAY Position the front wheels straight ahead and 1. switch OFF the Vehicle. Turn the steering wheel to measure 2. rotation/travel of the steering wheel to left and right without turning the front wheels. The steering wheel play value is “a” = 5 mm. • If the play is within the specified limit the • steering linkages are OK. If the steering wheel free play is there, then • inspect the following areas & replace the components if found defective. Tie rod end ball stud for wear / looseness. a.
