Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) 3 D. COMPONENTS 1. TPMS ECU The TPMS ECU is control unit that receives RF signal coming from tire sensors and transmit tire condition over CAN bus. TPMS ECU have the following main tasks: 1. If vehicle power mode is IGN ON, TPMS ECU sends tire status information (i.e. Low/ High Pressure/ Air leakage / High Temperature warning indications / Tire pressure and Tire temperature data.) to IPC. 2. IPC displays TPMS screen with 4 tire based on available tire configurations value received from TPMS ECU. TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR Tire sensor measures pressure and temperature value of the tire and transmit RF signal to TPMS ECU. Each sensor has a unique identifier into the internal memory and the power source is 3V lithium battery cell built in the sensor (cannot be replaced). The aluminum valve body has a function for the antenna.
