12 REAR AXLE DISASSEMBLY OF REAR AXLE Unitised wheel bearing lubrication is from hypoid gear lube, thus it is without grease seal. Fig. 3 Unscrew and remove backing plate nuts, holding the brake anchor (back) plate to the axle housing. Fig. 4 Note : Discard nuts, replace with new ones at the time of assembly. Remove the axle shaft. Fig. 5 Note: While removing the axle shaft in case the cups get stuck in the housing, make sure that the axle shafts sides (LH 8 RH) are not interchanged.
