ENGINE 273 MPFI 171 ENGINE PROCEDURE FOR COOLANT DRAIN FOR TATA NANO (BASE VERSION) Requirements: Regulated air supply at 1 bar (gauge) pressure. Please follow the below described procedure step-bystep; 1. Position the vehicle on a horizontal level ground / surface / car lift. 2. Allow the engine to cool down close to ambient temperature. 3. Open the radiator pressure cap (Fig. A) & loosen the radiator drain plug (Fig. B) to drain the coolant in the suitable vessel/tray. 4. Disconnect the recovery bottle vent hose at the radiator filler neck side (Fig. D) and drain the coolant from recovery bottle in the suitable vessel/tray. 5. Re-connect the recovery bottle vent hose. 6. Apply 1 bar (gauge) pressure compressed air at the radiator filler neck to drainmore coolant through radiator drain plug. 7. Finally close the radiator drain plug completely. PROCEDURE FOR COOLANT REFILLING & DEAERATION FOR TATANANO (BASE VERSION): Please follow the below described procedure step-bystep. 1. Ensure all the hose joints are properly clamped and the radiator drain plug is completely closed, but HVAC de-aeration port is open 2. Take specified quantity of fresh premixed coolant (in the ratio 50:50 Antifreeze coolant and Demineralized water) 3. Open the radiator pressure cap. 4. In the engine OFF condition, fill the coolant slowly through the radiator filler neck and continue the coolant filling up to the radiator filler neck. 5. Fill the coolant in the recovery bottle up to the FIRST FILL/ REFILL level and fit back the recovery bottle cap. 6. Start the engine, and do ~3 times tip in of the accelerator pedal to allow forced circulation of the coolant. Replenish the coolant level in the radiator filler neck. Repeat the above procedure few times, until there is no further coolant level drop in the radiator filler neck. (Caution: During tip – in do not hold the engine at higher rpm, as hot coolant may spill out of the open radiator filler neck.) 7. Now fix the radiator pressure cap and close it only till first step (Note: Radiator filler neck has two steps of locking for pressure cap) Fig. A Fig. B Fig. D
