170 ENGINE 273 MPFI 8) Apply 1 bar (gauge) pressure compressed air at the special adaptor on de-aeration port to drain the coolant through radiator drain plug. 9) Finally close the radiator drain plug completely. PROCEDURE FOR COOLANT REFILLING & DEAERATION FOR TATANANO (HVAC VERSION ): Please follow the below described procedure step-bystep. 1. Ensure all the hose joints are properly clamped and the radiator drain plug is completely closed, but the HVAC de-aeration port is open. 2. Take specified quantity of fresh premixed coolant (in the ratio 50:50 Antifreeze coolant and Demineralized water) 3. Open the radiator pressure cap. 4. In the engine OFF condition, fill the coolant slowly through the radiator filler neck. While the coolant is being filled, check that air, air bubbles and the coolant flowing through the HVAC de-aeration port. Close the de-aeration port when the coolant (free from air bubbles) starts flowing, then continue coolant filling up to the radiator filler neck. (Note: if the coolant does not flow out of the HVAC de-aeration port in step 4,even after filling the coolant up to radiator filler neck. Start the engine and keep it in idle till the coolant flows out of HVAC de-aeration port. And then put off the engine and close the HVAC de-aeration port completely.) 5. Fill the coolant in the recovery bottle up to the FIRST FILL / REFILL level and fit back the recovery bottle cap. 6. Start the engine, switch on the AC and do ~ 5 times tip in of the accelerator pedal to allow forced circulation of the coolant. Replenish the coolant level in the radiator filler neck. Repeat the above procedure few times, until there is no further coolant level drop in the radiator filler neck. (Caution: During tip – in do not hold the engine at higher rpm, as hot coolant may spill out of the open radiator filler neck.) 7. Hold the engine at idle for few minute, switch on to the cab heater mode. To ensure that coolant is flowing through cab heater lines, check for hot air flow. Replenish the coolant in the radiator filler neck. If hot air is not coming repeat step 6. 8. Now fix the radiator pressure cap and close it only till first step (Note: Radiator filler neck has two steps of locking for pressure cap) 9. Raise the engine speed to higher rpm for quick warm-up, and hold till radiator fan comes ON (caution: do not raise the engine speed to very high rpm), keep the engine in idle till radiator fan is switched OFF. Repeat the above radiator fan ON-OFF cycle once again. 10. Allow the engine to cool down close to ambient. Open the radiator cap and top up the coolant till top of the filler neck. Close radiator pressure cap completely i.e. up to the second step. Top up the coolant in the recovery bottle up to the FIRST FILL / REFILL level, and fit back the recovery bottle cap. Fig. E
