STEERING_MANDO 28 B. ELECTRICAL TROUBLESHOOTING CONCERN CAUSE REMEDY Steering jam or hard, Steering motor jam Steering column failure 1.Read error memory with diagnostic tool. 2.Remedy failure or replace steering column. 3.Read DTC with Diagnostic tool. Cable splice on steering column vehicle wiring harness defective or not plugged in correctly 1.Check cable splice / plug in correctly. 2. If cable splice damaged, replace. 3.Vehicle wiring harness or steering column. 4.Read DTC with Diagnostic tool Vehicle power supply at power connector insufficient 1.Check vehicle power supply at power connector between the pins. 2.Nominal value: greater than 9 V. 3.Check fuse/wiring harness in vehicle or replace it. 4.Read DTC with Diagnostic tool. Vehicle power supply insufficient at vehicle signal connector 1.Check vehicle power supply between pins on terminal 15 and ground/earth. 2.Nominal value: greater than 9 V. 3.Check fuse/wiring harness in vehicle or replace it. 4.Read DTC with Diagnostic tool. Faulty CAN bus signal in vehicle signal connector 1.Check differential voltage between CANL and CANH. 2.Nominal value: 0.1...1.0 V (value fluctuates). 3.Check terminating resistor between CANL and CANH. 4.Nominal value: approx. 60 5.Physical check of the CAN bus. 6.Read DTC with Diagnostic tool. Over Heat Protection (OHP) When a driver turns steering LH/RH side continuously (more than 10times) or lock position for more 30 sec, EPAS will get over heated & EPAS power will cut off to avoid over heat damage of EPAS parts like motor / ECU /Sensor. Note: It common phenomenon of EPAS, no part need to replace part. (Warning light will not ON). Vehicle ignition off for 3 min, then drive. Steering will cool down. Work perfectly. Wheel / vehicle peed sensor mal- function 1. WSS /VSS Sensor need to replace. 2. WSS / VSS cable faulty need to check. Note: Wheel /Vehicle speed or input for EPAS. Error code (DTC) may generated related to EPAS . Need to replace problem making part. Not EPAS. CAN Communicati on / Cluster malfunction 1. Main ECU communication issue. 2. Cluster RPM miscommunication. Note: CAN signal / cluster RPM for EPAS. Error code (DTC) may generated related to EPAS) . Need to replace problem making part. Not EPAS. C. MECHANICAL TROUBLESHOOTING
