SAFARI BSVI SERVICE MANUAL
FATC 29 9. FATC SENSOR & ACTUATOR A. EVAPORATER SENSOR It is a temperature-sensing device, which is positioned at the coldest point of the evaporator (as shown in the fig below) . The control unit switches OFF the compressor at a temperature when condensed water tends to form ice on the fins of evaporator. Thus it maintains the evaporator temperature within a specified range. LOCATION It is mounted on Air intake / Evaporator housing assembly. ON VEHICLE INSPECTION (WITHOUT DISMAN- TLING HVAC UNIT) Since the thermistor is mounted inside HVAC unit to conduct the above test HVAC unit has to be disman- tled. Alternatively following test can be conducted without dismantling the HVAC unit: 1. Switch OFF the HVAC unit and allow the HVAC unit to come to ambient temperature. 2. Open the glow box & lowering Glove box lid. 3. Disconnect the Pigtail connections 4. Measure the resistance it should match to the ambient temperature. Refer graph in Inspec- tion topic. As given in the graph above (~ 5 Ohms or less for ambient temperature of 25ºC and above)
