C635 TRANSAXLE 6 2. CHECK CLUTCH DISC SPLINES EVERYTHING OK PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED RESOLUTION Check for the presence of excess lubricant in the splines of the clutch disc and transmission input shaft. Continue to Step 3 Worn or damaged input shaft splines. Worn or damaged splines in the clutch disc. Replace the transmission input shaft. Properly lubricate the bushings clutch disc splines. If necessary, replace the clutch disc NOISE IN A SPECIFIC GEAR While driving, a noise is heard in a specific gear from the transmission area. The noise abates when shifted to a different gear. 1. CHECK THE SYNCHRONIZERS EVERYTHING OK PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED RESOLUTION Remove and Disassemble transmission to inspect the appropriate synchronizer(s). Continue to Step 2 Worn or damaged synchronizer components Replace worn components as necessary. 2. CHECK THE GEARS EVERYTHING OK PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED RESOLUTION Remove and Disassemble transmission to inspect the appropriate gears. Continue to Step 2 Worn or damaged synchronizer components Replace worn components as necessary. 3. CHECK THE DIFFERENTIAL EVERYTHING OK PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED RESOLUTION Inspect the differential gears. In particular: should not be worn or damaged. must not have an excessive clearance. End diagnosis Worn or damaged synchronizer components Replace worn components as necessary.
