STEERING SYSTEM 559 STEERING INTRODUCTION The steering system installed on TATA NANO is of rack and pinion type which is simple, light and responsive. When the steering wheel is turned, the motion is transmitted to pinion through steering shaft and universal joints. As the pinion teeth are meshed with rack, the motion gets transferred to rack and changed in to linear motion. Thus the steering turning force is transmitted to steering knuckle through tie rods which turns the wheels.
