520 BRAKE SYSTEM Inspection 1. Renew brake drum if scored, grooved or cracked. A cracked drum is unsafe for further service and must be replaced. Do not attempt to weld a cracked drum. 2. Check the brake drum for cleanliness. Thoroughly clean the back-plate and brake drum. 3. Check braking surface for its wear by measuring the inside diameter as shown in figure 3. Remove brake drum using brake drum puller. a b FRONT BRAKE DRUM Removal 1. Remove wheel (Refer wheel removal procedure/ Wheels and tires group) 2. Remove hub cap (a) and unscrew the stub axle nut (b). Drum internal diameter New 180 mm Service limit 182 mm Drum run - out limit (Radial) 0.04 mm
