SUSPENSION SYSTEM 439 SUSPENSION 2.8 Ensure that the Strut components are not fouling with any other parts near by. Any fouling part is bound to give a noise. 2.9 Ensure that the spring end is sitting securely on the spring seat at the correct place. If not, noise will be heard. 2.10 Look for signs of suspected oil leakage on the damper body. This is usually seen as oil patches or wet mud cakes on the damper body. 2.11 Look for broken parts. 2.12 Examine ride height of car to see signs of sagging - with and without loads. 2.13 Drive the car to evaluate complaint - weak / hard. 3. Evaluation result for investigation on car: 3.1 If the complaint is noise and no signs of oil leakage are observed on the damper body, it is most likely that noise is coming from other parts. 3.2 Retighten nuts and bolts to specified norms and adjust, if required, end play of brake and clutch linkages. Evaluate as per 2.1 3.3 If complaint persists, replace the suspected suspension part (front strut or rear shock absorber) and Evaluate as per 2.1. 3.4 If complaint persists, there is no problem with the strut or shock absorber damper. 3.5 I f the complaint does not appear af ter replacement of strut or damper, further investigation of removed front strut or rear shock absorber is needed.
