B1653 – 06 : LBIBS Module - Transponder Key Authentication Failure – Algorithm Based Failures Overview: ISO Code (DTC Code) B1653 - 06 Customer Symptom N/A. Fault Effects (On Vehicle) 1. Transponder key inoperative. 2. Authentication with Transponder failed. 3. No IMMO funcationality 4. Engine will not start. Lamp Status (If Any) Functional telltale used for fault indication. Fault Detection Condition Invalid response received from transponder. Normal Operating Condition BCM started the authentication to ECM with proper handshake then BCM should receive correct response. Probable Trouble Area 1. BCM connector Fault. 2. Harness wires shorted. 3. BCM ECU fault. 4. Wrong Transponder key. Healing Condition 1. Ignition OFF  ON. 2. Clear DTC Command. Component Details: BCM connector. Preliminary Checks: 1. Check Battery Voltage (9V-16V) 2. Check ECU pins for oxidation, bending & damage.
