B2238- 23: Rear Defogger switch circuit short to GND Overview: ISO Code (DTC Code) B2238-23 Customer Symptom Every time vehicle enters into RUN mode is switched ON, Rear defogger switches ON for 15 mins. Fault Effects (On Vehicle) Unintended switching ON of rear defogger for one cycle(15 mins) Lamp Status (If Any) Rear Defogger LED switches ON for 15 mins every time vehicle in RUN mode. Fault Detection Condition DTC logged during rear defogger switch is operated DTC logged in RUN/ IGN ON mode. Normal Operating Condition No DTC logged when vehicle in RUN mode and rear defogger switch is switched ON. Rear defogger shall operate for 15 minutes without logging any DTC. Probable Trouble Area Switch stuck low Wiring harness short to GND BCM fault BCM connector fault Healing Condition RUN the vehicle and operate rear defogger switch. Let rear defogger be ON for first cycle (15mis) and rear DTC, no DTC shall be logged Component Details: Rear Defogger switch(part of fascia switch) is a non-latchable switch. Hence BCM detects GND at this input pin till the switch is pressed. Preliminary Checks: 1. Check Battery Voltage (9V-16V) 2. Check ECU pins for oxidation, bending & damage.
