1.05L REVOTORQ ENGINE 16 TURBOCHARGER TROUBLE SHOOTING CHART: Complaints Engine lacks power Back exhaust smoke Excessive engine oil consumption Blue smoke Turbocharger noisy Oil leak from compressor Oil leak from turbine Boost pressure too high POSSIBLE CAUSES & REMEDIAL ACTIONS ● ● ● ● ● Clogged air filter element Replace element according to engine manufacturer's recommendations ● ● ● ● ● Restrictions in air intake duct to compressor inlet Remove restriction or replace damaged parts as required. ● ● ● Restrictions in air outlet ducts from compressor outlet to intake manifold Remove restriction or replace damaged parts as required. ● ● ● Restrictions in intake manifold Refer engine manufacturer's manual and remove restriction. ● Air leak in duct between air cleaner and compressor Arrest the leak by replacing hoses, clips, pipes or tighten the clamps as required. ● ● ● ● ● Air leak in ducts between compressor and intake manifold. Arrest the leak by replacing hoses, clips, pipes, cooler or tighten the clamps as required ● ● ● ● ● Air leak between intake manifold and cylinder head Refer engine manufacturer's manual and replace gaskets or tighten fasteners as required. ● Foreign object in exhaust manifold (engine) / intake duct to compressor. Remove the object & check for the cause / origin of the object entry and correct it. ● ● ● Restricted exhaust system. Remove restriction or replace damaged parts as required. ● ● ● Gas leak between exhaust manifold and cylinder head. Refer engine manufacturer's manual and replace gaskets or damaged parts as required or tighten the fasteners as required
