ENGINE 1.3L QUADRAJET (90PS) 55 3A.1.2.3.2 PISTON - REMOVAL & FITMENT 1. Remove the piston ‘O’ rings. 2. Release the pin (2a) and separate the connecting rods (2b) from the pistons (2c). 3 Remove the piston rings (1a) from the pistons using a suitable tool (1b). NOTE : The maximum permitted opening for the ring is 28 mm. 4. Check the alignment of the connecting rods using suitable equipment; if it is not correct, replace the connecting rod. 5. Check if the weight difference between the pistons is within the permitted value of +/- 8 Gms. Permitted weight difference between pistons (g) +/- 8 6. Check that the weight difference between the connecting rods, complete with half-bearings, caps and bolts is within the permitted value of +/- 24 gms Permitted difference in weight between connecting rods (g) +/- 24 7. Fit the piston rings on the pistons using the tool. NOTE The maximum permitted opening for the ring is 28 mm. 8. Join the connecting rods to the pistons so that the number printed on the connecting rod big end (1a) is facing the opposite side of the notch (1b) on the piston skirt for the oil jet housing. 9. Fit the pins and secure them using the circlips.
