C635 TRANSAXLE 2 3. COMMON PROBLEM CAUSES OR PRE-DIAGNOSTIC INSPECTION: Verify that the transaxle fluid level is at the proper cold fill level. Inspect the exterior of the transaxle for evidence of fluid leaks. Inspect the exterior of the transaxle for mechanical issues, such as improper shift cable routing or loose mounting bolts. NOTE: If a fluid with anti-friction additive is used in a C-635 transaxle the synchronizers will fail, requiring synchronizer replacement. DIFFICULT SHIFTER OPERATION 1. The engagement of the gears is difficult in every condition. CHECK SHIFTER CABLE HARDWARE EVERYTHING OK PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED RESOLUTION Check for any obstruction of the shifter. Check the routing of the the shifter cables and the attachment to the cables transmission and the shifter. Continue to Step 2 Cables not properly fitted. Remove any gear shifter Obstructions. Restore the proper routing and attachment of the control cables. 2. CHECK SHIFTER CABLES EVERYTHING OK PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED RESOLUTION Check for shifter cables for worn spherical ends or bushings. Continue to Step 3 Spherical ends worn or damaged. Replace the shifter cables 3.
