SAFARI STORME MY14

BRAKES BRAKES INTRODUCTION The service braking system of TATA SAFARI STORME consists of front ventilated disc brakes with twin pot caliper and rear disc brakes with single pot caliper. No adjustment required for front & rear brakes. These are hydraulically operated and vertical split with primary circuit connected to front calipers and secondary circuit is connected to rear calipers. “DRUM IN HAT” mechanism is provided on the parking brakes. Should one circuit fail the other remains unaffected and the vehicle can be brought to a halt. The hydraulic pressure is applied from the tandem master cylinder to the front and rear wheel cylinders through suitable Bundy tubes/flexible hoses. To reduce pedal effort, a twin diaphragm vacuum booster is fitted between brake pedal and tandem master cylinder. Should the servo unit fail, the push rod still acts mechanically to provide non- assisted braking. The vacuum in the system is generated by camshaft driven vacuum pump mounted on cylinder block. The parking brake is “DRUM IN HAT” mechanical lever type, console mounted cable operated acting on rear wheels. FOR ABS VEHICLE: Antilock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (If Fitted) ensures great stability and steer-ability while braking and also avoids wheel locking, skidding of wheels during panic braking. Electronic Brake Force Distribution ensures proper brake pressure distribution on all wheels. FOR NON-ABS VEHICLE: A Load Sensing Pressure Valve (LSPV) is provided on the rear brake circuit with bypass valve to avoid locking of rear wheel and skidding of the vehicle.
