FRONT AXLE (4X4) 37 FRONT AXLE (4X4) 31.Check ring gear and pinion backlash at three equally spaced points with dial indicator. Back- lash tolerance is 0.13 to 0.20 mm. and should not vary more than 0.08 mm between the three points checked. 32.High backlash is corrected by moving ring gear closer to pinion. 33.Low backlash is corrected by moving ring gear away from pinion. 34.These corrections are made by switching shims from one side of differential case to other. 35.If backlash is within the limit 0.12 – 0.20mm, check ring gear and pinion tooth contact pattern.
