PRECAUTIONS 2 DURING REPAIRS 1. Disconnect the battery, before any repair, unless required. 2. To avoid serious burns, keep out of Hot metals like Radiator, Exhaust pipe, Catalytic converter and exhaust and intake manifold. 3. Apply handbrake, whenever working on a vehicle. 4. Do not smoke when working on the vehicle. 1.2 SAFETY AGAINST PERSONAL INJURY A . WORKING WITH VEHICLES FITTED WITH AIRBAG While working with Vehicles equipped with airbag special care should be taken to avoid accidental de- ployment, which may cause personal injury and also to avoid damage to the airbag which may result in its failure to deploy during a crash. Disconnect the battery negative and wait for a min- ute before proceeding with any repairs related to airbag. !! WARNING Since the airbag system has power back up for about 30 secs, it is essential to wait for at least a minute after disconnecting the battery to proceed with any repair in order to avoid air bag deployment. 1. Replace the Airbag modules if dropped from a height, even if no external damage is visible. 2. Only use the diagnostic tool to probe faults in the Airbag system, never use electrical probing in- struments as the probing current may deploy the airbag. 3. Check if the airbag lamp comes ON to show any fault after conducting a repair and recheck for any errors using the diagnostic tool. 4. Do not try to dismantle the airbag module; there are no serviceable parts in it.
