16.1 PEPS ECU

The PEPS ECU is the central control unit of the

PEPS system that contains the electronics

necessary

to

facilitate

generation

and

transmission of LF challenges and receive RF

response signal coming from Smart Key, CAN-

bus communications, Immobilizer function and

clamp

(ACC,IGN,CRANK

output)

control

functionality.

PEPS ECU has the following main tasks:

1. Provide the LF communication link to

communicate from the vehicle to Smart Key

(Communication via LF antennas).

2. Read the Start Stop Switch to initiate the

passive Start and stop process,

3. Interpret the lock and unlock signal from door

handle switches to start the Passive Entry and

Exit process.

4. The other tasks of the PEPS ECU can include

the RF receiver function, the communication

with the BCM and the other ECUs of the

vehicle and diagnostics functions.

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect the battery.

2. Remove Rear quarter trim

(Refer rear quarter

trim removal for the procedure in body

Section)

.

3. Disconnect the electrical connection to the

ECU.

4. Remove the four mounting screw and take out

the ECU unit.

REFITMENT

Follow the removal process in reverse.
