d. REFRIGERATION CYCLE TROUBLESHOOTING

Sr.

No.

Problem

Possible Cause

Remedy

1

Insufficient re-

frigerant

Condition

5. Air conditioner does not cool effectively

Symptoms in refrigerant cycle

6. Pressure on both the high and low pres-

sure sides is low

7. Air around the air outlet is slightly cold

Cause

8. There is gas leakage in the refrigerating

cycle

Diagnosis

9. Insufficient refrigerant in the refrigerating

cycle

10.

Refrigerant leakage

Countermeasures

11. Locate the leakage and

repair

12.

Recharge refrigerant to

the specified amount

2

Excessive refrig-

erant or

insufficient con-

denser cooling

.

Condition

13. Air conditioner does not cool effectively

Symptoms in refrigerant cycle

14. Pressure on both the high and low pres-

sure sides is high.

Cause

15. Refrigerant is overcharge in the refrigerat-

ing cycle causing poor cooling

performance

16. Condenser cooling performance is poor.

Diagnosis

17. Excessive refrigerant in the refrigerating

cycle.

18. Overcharged refrigerant.

Poor condenser cooling performance.

Countermeasures

19. Clean the condenser.

20. Tighten the fan belt to

the correct tension.

21.

Above are all normal

check the refrigerant.

3

Entry of moisture

in the refrigerant

cycle

Condition

22. Air conditioner alternately cools and

does not cool.

Symptoms in refrigerant cycle

23. During operation, the pressure on the low

pressure side alternates between vacuum

and normal.

Cause

24. The moisture mixed in the refrigerant in

the refrigerating cycle freezes in the ex-

pansion valve orifice, blocking the cycle.

After a time, the ice melts and normal

conditions return

Diagnosis

25. The drier is in an oversaturated condition.

26.

The moisture in the refrigerating cycle

freezes the expansion valve orifice, im-

peding refrigerant circulation.

Countermeasures

27. Remove the moisture by

repeated evacuation.

28.

Recharge new refriger-

ant to the specified

amount.
