1.5L REVOTORQ ENGINE
201
Test Procedure
Use a d 3-½ digit Digital Multi meter (DMM)
for measuring the resistance
Immerse the sensor in a water bath such that
its terminals are facing upwards and outside
the water level.
Ensure that, around 50% of the hexagonal
flange thickness should lie below the water.
Boil the water and wait for 10 minutes after
boiling temperature of 100
o
C is reached. This
will ensure that the temperature is stabilized.
Measure the resistance value with the DMM
at 100
o
C resistance of the sensor should be
199.6 +/- 9.3 Ohms.
xiii. GLOW PLUG
Glow Plug is a pencil-shaped piece of metal with a
heating element at the tip, heats due to electrical
resistance and begins to emit light in the visible
spectrum, hence the term "Glow" plug. The heat
generated by the glow plugs is directed into the
cylinders and serves to warm the engine block
immediately surrounding the cylinders. This aids
in reducing the amount of thermal diffusion which
will occur when the engine attempts to start.
SENSOR LOCATION
INSPECTION
Check glow plugs for short circuits and or for
burning. Replace them if necessary.
