1.2L REVOTRON ENGINE

I. MANIFOLD AIR PRESSURE SENSOR AND

TEMPERATURE SENSOR (T-MAP)

COMPONENT DETAILS

T-MAP sensor consists of a silicon chip mounted

inside a reference chamber. On one side of the

chip is the reference chamber and on the other

side is the pressure to be measured. The

electrical resistance of the chip varies with the

variation of pressure. This change in resistance

alters the voltage signal. ECM interprets the

voltage signal as pressure and any change in

voltage signal as change in pressure. The

temperature sensor element is a NTC resistor.

COMPONENT LOCATION

T-MAP Sensors are mounted on Intake Manifold

and the hose from intercooler to electronic

throttle.

PRELIMINARY CHECKS

1. Inlet Air Circuit Clogging.

2. Loose / Damaged connections between

sensor and EMS ECU

3. Check for back out of pins at both sensor

connector and ECU connector.

4. Check for damage of pins at both sensor

connector and ECU connector.

COMPONENT SPECIFICATION

T-MAP Sensor is used to measure the

temperature & pressure of the Intake Air one

before electronic throttle and other on the intake

manifold .The piezo-resistive pressure sensor

element and a suitable circuitry for signal

amplification are integrated on a silicon chip. The

measured pressure operates from above to the

active side of the silicon diaphragm. Temperature

sensor is a NTC Element. Sensors are mounted

on Intake Manifold and the hose from intercooler

to electronic throttle and the bolt tightened at

specified torque.

The T-MAP sensor is a four pin peizo-resistance

semiconductor

device

with

a

negative

temperature coefficient. The T-MAP sensor

provides intake air pressure and temperature

details to ECU, which then calculates the correct

quantity of fuel to be injected to each cylinder.

A DC signal voltage is produced by the sensor,

which gets excited due to varying manifold air

pressure which is felt on semiconductor

diaphragm
