NOTE:

Do not mix clutch mounting bolts with other

fasteners. Do not use longer or shorter screws.

Longer screws may not tighten the clutch at all.

Shorter screws will not provide enough threads to

achieve desired tightening.

While tightening the clutch mounting screws

check aligning mandrel for continuous free

sliding to ensure concentric installation of clutch

disc which will avoid trouble during the

installation of the transaxle.

D. FLYWHEEL

The single mass flywheel

(SMF)

is a flywheel having

single inertia mass. It is fitted on the engine

crankshaft and provides mounting for the clutch

assembly, comprising of clutch cover assembly and

the driven disc.

The function of a conventional flywheel is to

dampen the speed fluctuations caused by impulses

during the engine cycle.

FLYWHEEL REMOVAL

1. Disconnect battery connection.

2. Remove splash guard from the vehicle.

3. Remove the starter motor (For procedure refer

Electrical section.)

4. Lower the gearbox from the vehicle. (For

procedure refer gearbox removal in Gearbox

section.)

5. Remove the clutch disc with clutch cover

assembly. (For procedure refer clutch cover

assembly removal procedure in this section.)

6. Loosen and remove mounting bolts and

separate the flywheel assembly from the

engine.
