ENGINE 1.3L QUADRAJET (90 PS)

117

Lambda Sensor :

The Quadrajet 90 PS BS4 engine is fitted with Lambda sensor before closed coupled catalytic

converter.

Component Details :

The purpose of lambda Sensor is to maintain the NOx and PM particles. It strongly reduces the

variations of NOx and PM emissions in the entire life of a car.

Component Location :

Operational Description :

This sensor is having two porous platinum electrodes. The outer electrode surface is exposed to the

exhaust gases and is coated in a porous ceramic with the inner-coated surface exposed to fresh air. This

sensor produces a voltage when there is a difference in oxygen content between the two electrodes.

This signal is then sent to the ECU, which adjusts the mixture accordingly. The voltage range is

normally:

0.2 volts when there is a lean mixture

0.8 volts when there is a rich mixture.

Connection Description :

Lambda sensor K40 sends signals to pins 44, 45 and 47 of connector V of ECU while pin 46

supplies a reference earth. The coil is supplied by the line of fuse 15A and receives an earth signal from

pin 12 of connector V of control unit ECU.
