B. SELF-DIAGNOSIS

The control unit self-diagnostic system checks the

signals coming from the sensors comparing them

with the permitted limits.

C. SIGNALLING OF FAULTS DURING STARTING:

Q

Warning light on until engine started indicates test

stage;

Q

Warning light off after engine st arting indicates

no fault with components that affect the safety of

the system;

Q

Warning light on with engine running indicates

fault.

D.SIGNALLINGOF FAULTS DURINGOPERATION

Q

Warning light on indicates fault;

Q

Warning light of f indicates no fault with

components that affect the safety of the system;

E. RECOVERY

From time to time the control unit defines the type

of recovery according to the components that are

faulty.

The recovery p arameters are managed by

components that are not faulty.

F. CODE RECOGNITION

The moment the control unit receives the ignition

ON signal it converses with the body computer

via the CODE function to obtain the go ahead for

starting.

G. FUEL TEMPERATURE CONTROL

With the temperature of the fuel at 80 °C

measured by the sensor in the diesel filter , the

control unit operates the pressure regulator to

reduce the line pressure and, if this is not enough,

to also reduce the amount of fuel injected.

H. ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE CONTROL

When the engine coolant temperature is above

105 °C, the control unit :

Q

reduces injected fuel quantity (reduces engine

power);

Q

controls the cooling fan

Q

switches on the coolant temperature warning light.
