1.2L REVOTRON ENGINE

194

magnet is modulated at the place of a coil, i.e.

with a tooth in front of the DG the magnetic flux

through the coil will increase, with a slot it will

decrease. This modulation results in changes of

the output signal/voltage. The change of the

magnetic field causes magnetic induction in a coil

by variation of the magnetic flux.

SENSOR STAND ALONE DIAGNOSIS

Use multimeter to check for coil resistance across

pin 1 and pin 2, which should be between 300

ohms to 420 ohms

Use TATA diagnostic tool to check for engine rpm

during cranking.

VI. COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR

COMPONENT DETAIL

The temperature sensing circuit uses Thermistor

that is sensitive to change in temperature. It has

basically the NTC (Negative Temperature

Coefficient) means as the temperature increases,

the resistance decreases.

COMPONENT LOCATION

Coolant temperature sensor is mounted on

thermostat housing (before thermostat), which is

in contact with the engine coolant and tightened to

a specified torque.

PRELIMINARY CHECKS

1. Loose/ Damaged Connections between

Sensor and EMS ECU.

2. Check for back out of pins at both Sensor

connector and ECU connector.

3. Check for damage of pins at both sensor

connector and ECU connector.

4. Check the continuity from sensor connector

pins to the ECU pins.
