1.3.2. PRECAUTIONS
The following general precautions to be followed
during servicing and during overhauling of rack
and pinion assembly:
Plug the ports tight with protective caps in the
steering gear.
Use only special tools and do not hammer to
re-move components from steering gear.
Do not attempt to weld any broken steering
component. Replace the component with the
original equipment.

DISMANTLING, INSPECTION AND AS-
SEMBLY
NOTE:
1. RPS assembly already removed from vehicle.
(Refer RPS assembly removal procedure).
2. Refer exploded view of Steering Rack and
Pinion Assembly while overhauling procedure.
1.3.3.1. DISASSEMBLY OF RACK & PINON
1. Hold the Steering Gear on a soft jaw vice.
2. Remove lock nut and remove both the Outer
Ball Joints from the steering gear.
3. Take out outer ball joint assembly.
4. Remove the bellow clips on either side and
also bellow strap using the plier dispose them.
5. Remove the Bellows on both side and dispose
(if damage/brake).
6. Loosen the Inner Ball Joints from the Rack by
arresting the Rack with 36 mm double end
spanner. (Rack should not twist while
loosening inner ball joint).
