Strut top bearing worn out

Lower ball joint worn out.

Replace the strut bearing, Replace the lower

ball joint.

Insufficient oil flow to steering

gear for adequate steering

speed.

Repair or replace the Pump if flow is less.

COMPLAINT

ROAD WANDER /

LASH IN STEERING

Lash in steering.

Constant correction is needed at steering

wheel to keep the vehicle from wandering.

Lost motion in steering

Uneven or extreme tread

wear.

Replace tyres with new one.

Unequal tyre pressure on

steered wheel.

Correct tyre pressure to specification.

components from steering

wheel to road wheels

(Steering wheel, steering

column, joints, inner/ outer

ball joints)

Determine by inspection to identify the cause

for lash and tighten or replace the affected

component as necessary.

Steering gear rack guide

Adjust rack guide to specification.

Wheel alignment out of

specification.

Wheel bearings not adjusted

properly or worn out.

Correct wheel alignment to specification.

Adjust or replace the bearings as necessary.

DIRECTIONAL PULL

Vehicle pulls to one side.

A constant force needed to hold steering.

CONDITION

Pulling felt while

braking only

Unequal braking force on

steered wheels.

Check and adjust the brakes of steered

wheels. Replace the brakes if necessary.

Uneven or badly worn tyres.

Replace the tyre.

Pulling prevalent while

accelerating only.

Deflection in suspension or

steering links.

Determine by inspection the suspension and

steering links and replace affected parts.

Wheel bearings improperly

adjusted

Check and adjust to specifications.

Unequal tyre pressure on

front tyres.

Inflate the front tyre to equal pressure

Improper wheel alignment

Check and correct wheel alignment.

Constant force is

required to hold

steering wheel.

Motoring

(automatic steering)

due to unbalanced control

valve in Steering gear.

Replace the Steering gear.
