TATA 483 DL TC IC is a turbocharged engine with

intercooler, and indirect fuel injection system. The

aluminium cylinder head incorporates glow plugs,

combustion chambers, and overhead camshaft. A

rubberised timing belt drives the overhead camshaft,

water pump and rotary fuel injection pump from

crankshaft. Element type heat exchanger is fitted on

the right hand side of the engine and it can be easily

removed for access to water jackets. The oil pump is

chain driven from the crankshaft and oil filter is

spin-on-throw away type. An oil separator is provided

in the crankcase ventilation system to separate the

gases and oil droplets in the system.

The engine has a three point mounting with two

mounting points in front of engine and one under the

rear of the gear box.
