12 Fit new oil seal on cover using drift, 312 589 12

39. Fig. 13. It is advisable to apply sealing

compound on outer diameter of seal before

assembly.

13 Examine the spacer (for oil seal) on the crankshaft

for wear and replace if necessary.

14 Stick new gasket to the cover by using sealing

compound.

15 Apply grease on the oil seal lip and fit cover

carefully without damaging the oil seal lip Keep

lock plate for alternator mounting bolt in position.

Tighten the cover screws to specified torque.

16 Install crankshaft pulley and thrust washer.

Tighten mounting bolt to specified torque.

17 Fit the noise dampening cover on the timimg gear

cover.

18 Install pulley on hub. Insert lock washers over

mounting bolts and tighten bolts to 3.5 mkg

torque

19 Mount poly V-belt and adjust tension (belt

deflection under thumb pressure = 20 mm) Fig.

15.

20 Install radiator and fill in cooling water. If fresh

water is used add anti-corrosive/anti-freeze

agent.

21 Check engine for oil/water leaks after test run and

rectify, if any.
