2.Adjust, balance or replace tyre

Hard steering

1. Disturbed toe

2. Rack and pinion movement bind-

ing

3. Tyres not adequately inflated

4. Bind in steering column

5. Bind in tie rod end ball studs or

lower ball joints

6. Vehicle overloaded

7. Oversized tyres

8. Rubber bellows on RPS assembly

disturbed or stuck up

9. RPS yoke screw over tightened

1.Check and adjust toe.

2.Check and adjust rack and pinion torque.

6. Check the load

7. Replace tyres with correct specifications

8. Correct the disturbed or stuck up bellows

9. Tighten to specified torque

Abnormal

noise,

front end.

1. Worn, sticky or loose tie rod ends,

lower ball joints or tie rod end ball

joints

2.Damaged strut assembly

3.Worn lower arm bushing

4.Loose wheel bolts

5.Loose suspension fasteners

6.Broken or damaged wheel bearings

7.Broken suspension spring

1.Replace worn out joints or components

2.Repair or replace

3.Replace worn bushes

4.Tighten wheel bolts to specified torque

5. Tighten all suspension fasteners to speci-

fied torque

6.Replace wheel bearings

7.Replace spring

Poor return ability

1. EPAS Malfunctioning

2. Caster and linkage initialization not

happen

3. High friction in rack and pinion (too

tight or improperly adjusted)

4. Improper wheel alignment

1. Check through the diagnostic tool and

rectify.

2. Carry out wheel alignment and initializa-

tion process.

3. Check the rack and pinion, replace if re-

quired.

4. Carry out wheel alignment and initializa-

tion process.

Erratic

Steering

when braking

1. Brake rotor, drum, and or pads con-

taminated with brake fluid, grease

or other substances.

2. Uneven tyre pressure or wear

1. Remove wheel on opposite side of pull.

Check for brake component contamina-

tion. Clean or replace as necessary.

2. Check tyres adjust tyre pressure or re-

place worn tyres as necessary.

Wander or Poor

steering stability /

Lash in steering

1. Uneven or extreme tread wear.

2. Unequal tyre pressure on steered

wheel.

3. Lash in steering due to any loose-

ness or wear or cracked

components from steering wheel to

road wheels

4. Wheel alignment out of specifica-

tion

1. Replace tyres with new one.

2. Correct tyre pressure to specification

3. Determine by inspection to identify the

cause for lash and tighten or replace the

affected component as necessary.

4. Correct wheel alignment to specification.
