Follow the reverse process while re-fitment of fuel

module.

WARNING

Unless replacement is necessary, fuel module

should not be removed from the tank since the

rubber parts I.e. gasket may get exposed to air,

light and may become hard. Never apply an ex-

cessive force to the fuel pump ports (delivery,

return and vapour). This may result in breakage

of fuel module ports.

1.6 FUEL TANK REMOVAL AND REFITMENT

CAUTION

Do not drain or store fuel in an open container to

avoid possibility of fire or explosion. Put lid on

container.

Releasing fuel system pressure

WARNING

Since the fuel system remains under pressure

when the engine is not running, release the fuel

system pressure before disconnecting any fuel

line to reduce the chance of personal injury or fire

damage to vehicle components.

Procedure to release fuel system pressure and then

removal of fuel tank from vehicle:

1. Remove carpet cutout and remove plastic cov-

er which has snap fit lugs

2. Start the engine

3. Disconnect fuel tank unit’s (fuel module) elec-

trical connector located under center floor

carpet.

4. Let engine stall, then turn “OFF” ignition

switch.

5. Disconnect battery terminals.

6. Remove all three pipe lines of fuel tank unit i.e.

Fuel feed Line, Fuel Return Line, Fuel Vapor

line.
