FATC 22 13. CHILLER UNIT The chiller unit is heat exchanger and it is used to cool the coolant which is used for battery cooling. Chiller consist of plate type heat exchanger, Thermostatic Expansion vale (TXV) with inbuilt solenoid valve. After condenser, liquid refrigerant flows through TXV and refrigerant temperature drops. Low temperature refrigerant enters from chiller inlet (refrigerant channel) and come out from chiller outlet. Similarly high temperature coolant comes from battery and enters in the chiller (coolant channel). It gets cool inside chiller and low temperature coolant comes out from chiller. ON / OFF type inbuilt solenoid valve used to control refrigerant flow through the chiller. 14. COOLANT PUMP Coolant Pump is used to circulate coolant in the battery cooling system (BCS). It operates on low voltage and it gets signals from VCU. COOLANT PUMP Pump is used to circulate coolant in the battery cooling system (BCS). It operates on low voltage and its signals from VCU.
