Clock spring is a spirally wound wire coil (not a slip ring) mount to steering column. This single-wire type contact reel (clock spring) design ensures most reliable contact possible between air bag module assembly and SRS ECU. It also provides the electrical continuity for airbag, horn, vehicle cruise control and infotainment system. The clock spring only needs to be replace when the connectors that attach to the driver’s airbag is melted and fused directly to the DAB module.
