C. INTERMEDIATE SHAFT REMOVAL REMOVAL 1. Remove universal joint cover. 2. Remove the universal joint bolt between steering column & intermediate shaft. 3. Remove the universal joint bolt between intermediate shaft and rack & pinion assembly. 4. Disengage the intermediate shaft from rack & pinion assembly and take out the intermediate shaft. REFITMENT 1. Keep the front wheels in straight ahead position. 2. For assembly follow reverse procedure of removal. D. ECU REMOVAL Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) ECU replacement and software update procedure in field. 1. Disconnect battery. (Refer battery removal procedure/Body Electrical group). 2. Remove two screws and one nut of cover nacelle. 3. Remove lower panel covers attached to the dashboard. 4. Disconnect the electrical connector’s from the ECU. NOTE Re-fitment of universal joint between intermediate shaft and rack & pinion assembly use new bolt for tightening. Wheel alignment is necessary after installation (Refer wheel alignment procedure). WARNING Do not reuse the universal joint bolts.
